Udupi, Mar 19: The members of the district BJP Yuva Morcha, Udupi, staged a protest on Wednesday March 18 demanding that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) be called in to investigate the suspicious death case of 36-year-old IAS officer D K Ravi. The protest took place near Bus Stand, Clock Tower.
Addressing the gathering, BJP state president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde said that he started his career in the year 2009 in Commercial Tax Department as additional commissioner. “Ravi’s death has created a sizzling environment for the state government. This is the right time to question the stance of the state administration,” he said.
Hegde alleged that the Congress had given a transfer order for the sixth time in a short career span for the development of the party. “It shows the kind of political pressure faced by government officials. Now CID officer Prathap Reddy has been deputed for investigation but the state government is directly accountable for Ravi's death,” he said.
Hegde added that the Udupi government officials are facing the same problem. “Already three DCs have been transferred within six months. There is no doubt that the present DC, R Vishal will also be transfered soon; the days are near,” he said criticizing Siddaramaiah’s government.
He again urged the state government to hand over Ravi’s suicide case to the CBI without delay.
Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, spokesperson of BJP Udupi block, said, “Ravi was not a coward to hang himself. There are hidden hands working in such acts. He was controlling corruption and illegal activities such as sand mining and real estate scams. How can home minister George declared his death a suicide before the forensic lab report is issued?”
He shouted slogans against CM Siddaramaiah and his unethical statement about the suspicious death of IAS Ravi.
Kuthyar Naveen, Uday Kumar Shetty, Sheela K Shetty, Shyamala Kunadar, state secretary, Sandhya, Geethanjali Suvarna, and Veena Shetty were present.
