IAS officer's death: Karnataka MPs urge Rajnath for CBI probe

New Delhi, March 19 (IANS): A group of BJP MPs from Karnataka met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday and requested him to ask Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to recommend a CBI inquiry into the death of a young IAS officer in Bengaluru.

The home minister assured them that he would look into the case, an official said.

D.K. Ravi, a 36-year-old additional commissioner in the state commercial tax department, was found dead on March 16 in his official apartment. His wife found him hanging from a ceiling fan.

The IAS officer's family on Wednesday refuted a statement made by Siddaramaiah that the bureaucrat committed suicide due to personal reasons, and also demanded a CBI probe saying they suspect foul play in his death.
