Mangaluru, Mar 17: Veteran politician, former minister B Janardhan Poojary on Tuesday March 17 demanded a detailed CBI probe into the mysterious death of young IAS officer D K Ravi Kumar who was found hanging at his St John's Wood apartment in Koramangala, Bengaluru.
Addressing a press meet at the Congress office here, Poojary said "I urge CM to hand over the case to CBI for thorough and detailed investigation. He (Ravi) was a sincere officer who took on sand and land mafia and worked sincerely for the people. How can a person who courageously fought against mafias commit suicide?"
Poojary further said, "Detailed probe will expose the truth and nobody should be spared from this. If it is indeed a suicide, the people who drove him to suicide should be brought to book and subjected to stringent punishment."
"The CM should take the bold step of handing this case to the CBI and thus give a positive message to the entire country. The CM would become a role model by doing this and prove that the government protects sincere officers," he added.
Slamming political leaders who interfere in administrative affairs by getting officers trasferred, he said, "This case should be a good lesson to those who interfere in the administrative affairs and get sincere officers transferred. Nobody should interfere. Officers should allowed to do their work."
Poojary appreciated and praised the work of D K Ravi and said it is very rare to find such sincere officers.
Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Vijaykumar Shetty, former deputy mayor Kavita, Arun Coelho, Nazeer Bajal, T K Sudhir, A C Bhandary and others were present.
