Udupi, Mar 17: Catholic Sthree Sanghaton of the Kallianpur Deanery organized International Women’s Day at Mount Rosary Millennium Hall, Santhekatte, Kallianpur on Saturday, March 14.
After the invocation prayer song led by Milagres Choir group and prayers by Brahmaver unit, Fr. Valerian Mendonca Chancellor of Udupi diocese and spiritual director of
diocesan catholic sthree sanghaton inaugurated the occasion with lighting the lamp. The program resource persons Pramod Kalmady Social worker, Shirthady William Pinto noted Advocate, Fr. Reginald Pinto director of SAMPADA, Diocese of Udupi, Sr. Tressa Martis diocesan convener of self help groups, Veronica Cornelio president of KSDL, Janifer Menezes president of diocesan Catholic sthree sanghaton, Beena Lewis president of Kallianpur Deanery CSS and Jyothi Lewis Secretary Kallianpur Deanery CSS were present on the dais.
During in his inaugural one of the beautiful address Fr. Valerian Mendonca said "If we are united we can achieve anything. Sthree Sanghaton Diocesan women’s Association has been giving large contribution to development of women in many ways like forming self help groups etc. Sthree sanghaton has a strong future. There should be awareness on our girls even though we have strong backing of our religion, good education and moral values. Women have to follow five objectives of Sthree Sanghaton."
Reginald Pinto called to women should make use of and establish self help groups in all the wards of all the parishes of the diocese which Bishop also wants. Sr. Tressa Martis also gave message.
Veronica Cornelio was felicitated during the occasion. Pramod Kalmady gave details of atrocities on women and solutions while Shirthady William Pinto outlined the government’s proposed censor on caste system.
Earlier Beena Lewis welcomed the gatherings. Jyothi Lewis placed report in brief of eight units of the deanery. Irene Cornelio proposed vote of thanks while Janeview and party compered the programs.
Entertainment programs like skit, dance and singing held at the end of the program. Large number of women of the Kallianpur deanery participated during the celebration of International Women’s Day.
