Kundapur, Mar 15: President of Ajri garm panchayat in the taluk, Govind Shetty (35), has complained to Shankarnarayana police station, alleging that he was assaulted by a local relating to non-allotment of ration card. In a counter complaint, Basava Shetty (60), has accused the gram panchayat president of hitting him.
In his complaint, Govind Shetty said that Basava Shetty, a resident of Jaddinamullu, came to his room on March 13, and hit him with the name board kept on his table, blaming him for his inability to secure a BPL card for the latter. He also claimed that Basava Shetty, who was angry at having to visit taluk office many times to get his card without any positive result, also posed death threat to him.
Contrary to what Govind Shetty said, Basava Shetty said that he had visited the panchayat office to get the green ration card he had obtained from the taluk office entered in the records. 'Govind Shetty pulled me by holding my neck and hurled abuses at me. I apprehend trouble from him. I am scared of him,' he explained.
