Mangaluru, Mar 13: Corporation Bank celebrated its 110th Foundation Day at its head office in Pandeshwar on Thursday March 12.
The formal function began with the lighting of the lamp by S R Bansal, chairman and managing director of the Bank.
Floral tribute was given to the founder’s portrait by the chairman and managing director as well as executive directors.
On this occasion, Bansal declared open 110 new branches, ATMs, and e-Lobbies.
The bank also launched two new products for the benefit of NRE customers. One is a savings account which provides protection for the family with personal accidental death insurance cover of Rs 5 lac at 28 paise per day. The premium for the first year is free and there is no minimum balance stipulation. The bank also launched ‘CORP Tab Banking’ which provides the convenience of opening accounts at the customer’s door step. In Tab Banking, a bank officer will visit the customer, take a photograph, and capture documents on the tablet and instantly open an account.
Addressing the gathering, Bansal said, "Today our bank is stepping into 110th year. This day is a tribute to our founder. We thank our customers, employees of past and present, and investors. Our bank has been endeavouring to follow the motto 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah'. We were the first bank to reach the target of PM Jan Dhan Yojna, well ahead of the given time. Our bank has been making special efforts to help agriculturists. We have the lowest zero balance accounts of only 34 percent.
"I congratulate all the employees on this occasion. As of now we have 2,257 branches and 2,970 ATMs and 79 e-lobbies across the country," he added.
"We have launched two new services which are helpful to NRE customers and to those who cannot come to the bank to create an account. We have given computers to three schools under CSR programme, and I am happy to say that the initiatives by our bankers especially regarding Jan Dhan Yojna have been appreciated by the ministry. Our service is better than any other bank's," he said.
The bank honoured its top performing employees in the area of account opening, bank assurance, delivery channels, and PMJDY. As a part of CSR activities, computers were given to three schools of Mangaluru city which are providing education to students coming from economically backward families.
Executive director A L Daulhani welcomed the gathering while executive director B K Srivastava proposed the vote of thanks.
Cultural and entertainment programmes were held after the formal ceremony. Ghazals and music by Bengaluru Shruthi band, performance by flutist S Akash from Bengaluru and so on ethralled the gathering.
