Bantwal: Gangs fight - three injured, complaints filed

Bantwal, Mar 12: In connection with a land dispute, a gang allegedly inflicted injuries to three persons with a knife at Kanyana Junction in the taluk on Wednesday March 11 evening. The injured have been identified as Farooq, Razak, and Shariff from Kaniyoor Talekki near Kanyana.

On account of the gravity of injury suffered by Shariff, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment, while the other two got admitted into a private hospital in Puttur.

It is learnt that both the groups had visited Kanyana gram panchayat office on Wednesday March 11 relating to a dispute under section 94c of Land Revenue Act. As one of these persons had informed the minister who had visited the gram panchayat about the dispute, he had asked the revenue officer to address the issue. After the minister left, the two groups engaged in exchange of strong words. But locals had succeeded in pacifying both the sides.

Later in the day, the above three persons were stabbed by people belonging to the other group in Kanyana town, it is gathered. There is information that some people from the other group also got admitted into hospital. Complaint and counter complaint have been filed against each other.
