Kuwait, Feb 6: The Dakshina Kannada chapter of the KKMA (Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association) Kuwait recently organized a function in honour the visiting educationist and philanthropist from Mangalore, B Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen in Jabriya Kuwait Medical Association Auditorium.
KKMA is the leading socio cultural organization of Indian nationals residing in Kuwait with a mission to aid and secure development of their members and community. Their motto is 'people helping people'.
B Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen, who is also chairman of the BA Group, Mangalore was in Kuwait to introduce his charitable project B A. Charitable Hospital, a 50-bed multi Specialty Hospital in Thumbay near Mangalore.
The function began with the recitation of Holy Qura’n. KKMA DK president Abdul Hameed Mulk welcomed the gathering and journalist B S Sharafuddin introduced Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen and narrated his achievements to the audience. KKMA board of trustees chairman Sagheer Trikaripur complimented Ahmed Hajee for his dedicated, selfless and untiring efforts towards the upliftment of the underprivileged in India.
During the question and answer session, Ahmed Hajee provided detailed information to the audience about his projects.

Noteworthy recognition of Ahmed Hajee's efforts puts him in the forefront of educationists. He is the founder-president of a number of Institutions and Trusts in Mangalore and surrounding areas. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen is one of the Trustees of Yenepoya Medical College and Yanepoya Dental College in Mangalore and The Gulf Medical College and Gulf Hospital in Ajman, U.A.E.
Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen in his keynote address said that there are about 100 villages within the radius of 50 kms from Thumbay with a combined population of more than 8 lac and they are dependent on Mangalore city for quality healthcare. His vision and wish is to build a full-fledged hospital offering good medical facilities to the residents of Thumbay and the neighboring villages.
With the year 2007 marking the Golden Jubilee of his achievements, Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen said that he is planning to complete the work of B.A. Charitable Hospital by the end of this year and the initial cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 400 lac. It is proposed to initially to set up a 60 bedded Hospital with the following departments.
- Gynecology and Pediatrics Departments
- Medicine and Surgery Units
- Fully equipped Dental Chairs
- Casualty and Trauma Centre with Minor OT
- 2 Major Operation Theatres and 2 Labour Theatres
- Well-equipped Post-operative and Intensive Care Units (Including Neuro and Pediatric Intensive Care Facility)
In the first phase itself it is proposed to start various Nursing and Para Medical Courses with a dual object of providing job opportunity to the local youths, especially to girls and also to meet ever increasing demand for these technical posts in Health Care Industry. The courses which are proposed in this stage are General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), Medical Lab and X-Ray Technician courses etc.
Over a period of time as the hospital progress, new Para Medical Courses will be offered in a phased manner with the ultimate goal to start a Women’s Medical College. To achieve these objectives, financial aid is being accepted from philanthropic individuals and bodies and all those who support this commitment with a spirit of concern for a brighter tomorrow.
