Mangaluru, Mar 9: District Congress will stage a protest on March 11 at 10 am in front of DC’s office against the central government's ordinance on land acquisition, informed former DK district Congress vice president Ibrahim Kodijal in a press held at district Congress office on Monday, March 9.

Addressing the media persons, Ibrahim said, "BJP led government is a pro-corporate and anti-farmer in their policies. United Progressive Alliance (UPA) under the leadership of former PM Manmohan Singh created a bill ‘The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency’ in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 which were pro-farmer, but BJP-led NDA government has removed the need for obtaining the consent of land-owners and carrying out Social Economic Assessment (SIA) which is pro-corporate and anti-farmer".

"Farmers are the back bone of the nation, Congress party always stood for the welfare and betterment of the farmers, and now it will fight to safe guard the rights of the farmer. We have sent a letter to all the block leaders and all will be present on March 11 to protest against the central government's ordinance on land acquisition. We seek the cooperation of media in this regard to make it a successful protest".

MLC Ivan D’Souza and other leaders of the district Congress were present on the occasion.
