Bengaluru, Mar 7: A person who crushed his younger brother, who was physically disabled, to death, and dumped his body in a lake, stands arrested. The arrest was made by Parappana Agrahara police.

Timmaraju alias Dodda Timmaraju (42) from Agara in the city stands arrested for this barbaric murder. An auto rickshaw driver named Selvaraju, who allegedly helped Timmaraju in the act, has gone missing. The police are hunting for him. Vankatesh (36), younger brother of Timmaraju, had been murdered on March 1. When police made inquiries, Timmaraju had told them that some unidentified persons had killed his brother, the police said.

The brothers lived together in a hut built on a 20x40 site they inherited from their father. Timmaraju is a truck driver, who has wife and five children. Venkatesh was blind in one eye, and had also lost movement in the limbs on one side. He was unmarried, happened to be a liquor addict, and pestered Timmaraju for money to buy liquor frequently, it is learnt.

Venkatesh got angry when money as demanded was not provided to him. In such days, he used to fight with Timmaraju, using abusive words, and demanded share in the house site. On March 1 too, the brothers fought, after which Venkatesh is said to have used derogatory words against Timmaraju's daughters. Angered by this, Timmaraju crushed his younger brother's head with a boulder, it is gathered.

Timmaraju then called his friend, Selvaraju, an auto rickshaw driver, to his home. With his help, the body was transported in the auto rickshaw to Rayasandra lake, where the body was dumped. The body was found floating the next day, and the police who registered the case, had summoned family members for identification and interrogation. Timmaraju had claimed then that his younger brother had taken out food in lunch box at 8 pm on March 1 and did not return. He suspected murder by unknown people.

During questioning thereafter, another brother, Chikkatimmarayappa, told the police that the two brothers fought frequently, and did not rule out possibility of Timmaraju having committed the murder. When the police summoned Timmaraju again and subjected him to intensive questioning, he confessed to the crime, the policemen said.
