Bengaluru, Mar 4: On Sunday March 1, the state government had appointed H R Chandraiah as the chairman of Magadi Planning Authority. It is said that senior Congress leader, H M Revanna, had succeeded in prevailing on the party leadership to allot this seat to one of his followers.
Surprisingly, the government changed its stand on Monday itself, and gave the post to C H Gangadharaiah. It is learnt that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member, A Manju, had suggested the name of Gangadharaiah to the post. As soon as Chandraiah bagged the chair, there was flutter in the party circles.
Congress leaders from the taluk met the chief minister and brought pressure on him to cancel the appointment of Chandraiah. They convinced him that party will suffer setback if Gangadharaiah is overlooked for the post. The chief minister thereafter changed his stand and ensured that the chairman of the planning authority is changed immediately.
