Udupi, Feb 21: The local police have succeeded in arresting two vehicle thieves, and recovering from them two two-wheelers and another motor bike which are not backed by any records.
The two were nabbed when the police were checking vehicles near Beedinagudde here on Friday February 20. Ramesh (23), who was riding a blue Honda Activa vehicle, was unable to produce any records pertaining to the vehicle. Further questioning revealed that he had stolen this vehicle from Panjimogaru near Kavoor Mangaluru in 2013 along with Sandeep.
Sandeep, who was following Ramesh (29) in a black Bajaj Pulsar vehicle, was also found to be not possessing any papers relating to his vehicle. He later confessed that a blue colour Pulsar motor bike the duo had stolen from Attavara Katte Mangaluru in May 2014 had been kept in the house of Ramesh at Kadekar.
The arrested men are Ramesh (23) from Hungund in Bagalkot district, who currently lives in a rented accommodation at Kadekar here, and Sandeep (29), residing in the backside of Vaman Nayak factory at Jeppu Marnamikatte in Mangaluru.
Crime police sub-inspector attached to the town police station, Rajagopal, and other staff made these arrests under the directions of superintendent of police, Annamalai, and guidance of assistant superintendent of police, Santosh Kumar, deputy superintendent of police,K M Chandrashekhar, and police circle inspector, Srikant K.
The police said that Sandeep has previous history of criminal activities, having been accused of stealing five motor bikes from within the jurisdiction of Mulkiy police station. He had been released on bail in these cases.
