Mangaluru, Feb 20: The state government has nominated M P Noronha as the syndicate member of Mangalore University until further orders.
Noronha is a popular senior advocate, Notary public and Christian marriage registrar. He is also a dynamic secretary of Mangalore diocese and is involved himself in various social service activities.
M P Noronha was a brilliant student during his academic days. He had secured the first rank in English typewriting in the entire state of Karnataka, and also ranks in BA law and LLB examinations conducted by Mangalore University. He also had keen interest in extracurricular activities. Since childhood, he has won various prizes at school level, inter-school Level, college level and inter-college levels in extracurricular activities.
He is governing board member of Catholic Board of Education which has established several hundreds of educational institutions, including pre primary schools, higher primary schools, pre-university colleges, colleges and technical institution etc.
M P Noronha is also a management committee member and served as governing board member of Father Muller Charitable Institution which runs hospitals, medical college, nursing college etc. He is also an executive member of St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru which provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, business administration and computer application etc.
M P Noronha has served as professor of SDM Law College, Mangaluru. He is also the legal advisor of several hundreds of educational institutions. Hence considering his experience in the field of education as professor, management member and legal advisor, the state government has nominated him as the syndicate member of Mangalore University.
At the age of 29, M P Noronha became the youngest elected chairman of MCC Bank Ltd. During his tenure, the bank saw unprecedented progress and gave dividend of 22%, the highest in the history of MCC Bank.
He is also the advisory committee member of Spandana Trust which is helping meritorious students and supporting students from financially poor economic background. He is also advisory member of Family Counseling Centre which holds programmes and counseling for family unity and settles family disputes.
Besides, he has organized a number of meetings for people of various walks of life to instill in them the secular ideology of the country. He has conducted a number of legal aid camps and shown concern towards human rights. In recognition of his various social services he was conferred Jaycee Award 2000.
