Mangaluru, Feb 19: "The food and civil supplies department gives the deadline of only 15 days more to collect the new ration card from the department. As many as 4000 ration cards are yet to be collected even after repeated reminders," This was revealed by Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim in a press meet held at DC office on February 18 in the city.
Addressing the press, DC said, " Many apply for the new cards but do not come and collect the cards, Thousands of them are yet to collected. We have sent the SMS and even through the calls we have reminded them. They should collected within specified days . Otherwise they will be cancelled. You can send anyone from your family to collect the card, provided they are above 12 years old."
Speaking at the occasion Sharanappa of food and civil supplies department D.K said, " In DK district a total of 77670 applications were recieved, among them 17232 applications are pending, out of which 5976 applicants have furnished necessary documents and 11256 applicants have not furnished proper identity documents.Hence 15 days more are provided to submitt the necessary documents to Mangaluru One/Photo centre and to gram panchayats."
"All the BPL families are provided free gas connection through local administration and also under CSR scheme. Total of 6100 BPL card holders can avail the free gas connection, all the eligible beneficiary's are requested to furnish xerox copy of ration card, bank account details, Photo and other necessary documents to the dealers and avail the facility. Otherwise kerosene supply to the BPL card holders will stop."he added.
General public have been asked to provide necessary documents like Adhar and EPIC within next 15 days.
