'Humshakals', 'Action Jackson' lead Golden Kela Awards nominations


New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS): Filmmaker Sajid Khan's 2014 film “Humshakals” is leading the 7th Annual Golden Kela Awards with five nominations, while Prabhudheva's “Action Jackson” has bagged four nominations.

The awards are an Indian version of the Golden Raspberry Awards, which take place in the US. This year, the Golden Kela Awards will honour the worst of Bollywood films released during 2014.

Multi-starrer comedy film “Humshakals”, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia and Esha Gupta in pivotal roles, is nominated for Worst Film, Worst Director (Sajid Khan) and Worst Actor (Saif), as well the Most Atrocious Lyrics and the 'Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke' Award.

Ajay Devgn-Sonakshi Sinha-starrer action masala film “Action Jackson” is also nominated for the Worst Film and for the Worst Director category, apart from Worst Actor and Worst Actress.

Apart from “Humshakals” and “Action Jackson”, other films in the Worst Film category are Salman Khan-starrer “Kick”, Hrithik Roshan-starrer “Bang Bang!” and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Happy New Year”.

Saif and Ajay are competing in the worst actor category against Arjun Kapoor (“Gunday” and everything else), Salman (“Kick”) and surprisingly, Rani Mukerji for her tough police officer role in “Mardaani”.

In the Worst Actress category, the contenders are Katrina Kaif (“Bang Bang!”), Sonam Kapoor (for everything she did), Tamannah Bhatia (“Entertainment”), Jacqueline Fernandes (“Kick”) and Sonakshi ("Action Jackson", "Lingaa" and "Holiday").

“Humshakals” director Sajid Khan is vying for the 'Golden Kela' in the Worst Director category along with Prabhudheva (“Action Jackson”), Rohit Shetty ("Singham Returns"), Sajid Nadiadwala ("Kick"), Sohail Khan ("Jai Ho") and Siddharth Anand ("Bang Bang!").

The hit numbers of 2014 like “Sunny Sunny” (“Yaariyan”), “Yaar na miley” (“Kick”), “Baby Doll” (“Ragini MMS 2”), “Galliyan” (“Ek Villain”) and “Tu Meri” (“Bang Bang!”) have been nominated for the most irritating song which have been played endlessly on TV or Radio.

In the Most Atrocious Lyrics category, Sameer for “Caller Tune” (“Humshakals”), Shabbir Ahmed for “Ice Cream” (“The Xpose”), Yo Yo Honey Singh for “Sunny Sunny” (“Yaariyan”), Vishal Dadlani for “Tu Meri” (“Bang Bang!”) and Mayur Puri for “Johnny Johnny” (“Entertainment”) have been nominated.

The Worst Debutant category includes Tiger Shroff (“Heropanti”), The Xpose Girls (“The Xpose”), Mishti and Kartik Tiwari (“Kaanchi”), the whole cast and crew of "Yaariyan" and Daisy Shah ("Jai Ho").

For 'Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke Award', Raj and DK (“Happy Ending”), Abhishek Sharma (“The Shaukeens”), Nawazuddin Siddiqui (“Kick”), Ram Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan (“Humshakals”) and Shashanka Ghosh (“Khoobsurat”) are in competition.

In quirky category RGV Ki Aag Award for the Most Pointless Remake/Sequel, the films nominated are "Shaadi Ke Side Effects", "Ragini MMS 2", "Singham Returns", "Bang Bang!", "Khoobsurat", "The Shaukeens", "Bhoothnath Returns" and "Hate Story 2".

For Why Are You Still Trying Award, Sonam Kapoor, Jackie Bhagnani, Himesh Reshammiya, Subhash Ghai, Ayushman Khurana and Yami Gautam have been nominated.

The 7th Annual Golden Kela Awards ceremony will take place here at the India Habitat Centre March 14.
