Ajman, Jan 17: Gulf Medical College, Ajman has entered into an agreement with The Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research to organize GMC Harvard Medical School Dubai Center Seminars. HMSDC was launched in 2004 through a joint effort by Harvard Medical International and Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC). HMSDC is part of the Government of Dubai's mission to develop DHCC into a center of excellence for health care delivery, medical education, and research.

In a press release issued today, the Conference Secretariat at Gulf Medical College announced that the seminars would be held during March and April this year.

"We are delighted with this development and are looking forward to a long-term relationship with HMSDC," said Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Dean of Gulf Medical College. "We are proud to invite such eminent faculty to deliver lectures at the seminars," she said.

The Clinical Grand Rounds will consist of  three events with experts from Harvard Medical International, Boston USA, HMSDC and other faculty identified and selected by HMSDC who will deliver state-of –the – art lectures on  medical and healthcare issues. Topics include Pediatric Infections, Global Issues in Prevention and Care for People with HIV/AIDS, Medical Education 2007: Where are we headed?" and a day-long seminar titled "Current Issues in Respiratory Disease," covering Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Ventilator Associated Pneumonia, CT Screening for Lung Cancer and Evaluation and Management of Dyspnea.

Robert L. Thurer, MD, Chief Academic Officer of HMSDC commented, "We are pleased to work with our friends and colleagues at Gulf Medical College to bring outstanding educational programs to the region."

"By organizing such events Gulf Medical College reiterates its' commitment to the society in general and medical education in particular," said Prof. Gita Ashok Raj. "The expertise of Harvard will help the local practicing physicians to update their knowledge apart from benefiting the faculty and students at GMCA," she added.

All the events are accredited by the HMSDC and certificates with requisite CME hours will be presented to the participants by HMSDC. The events will be held at Gulf Medical College Ajman, Dubai, and Sharjah.

The Conference Secretariat at Gulf Medical College has been in the forefront of organizing CME over the last six years. They have organized over 30 conferences, seminars, symposiums and workshops involving local regional and international experts.
