Porto beat Guimaraes 1-0 in Portuguese league

Porto (Portugal), Feb 14 (IANS): Porto beat Guimaraes 1-0 in the 21st round of the Portuguese football league at the Dragao Stadium here.

Algerian midfielder Yacine Brahimi scored in the 31st minute after a pass by Spanish midfielder Oliver Torres when his powerful effort deflected off Portuguese goalkeeper Giovanaz Assis Friday, reports Xinhua.

Porto dominated the entire game and both teams wasted several chances.

Porto gained three points and stands second in the league with 49 points, just a point behind Benfica which is yet to play this round, while Guimaraes are fifth with 36 points.
