Mangaluru, Feb 12: Brijesh (33) from Balal Karyatchal in Kasargod district breathed his last due to H1N1 (swine flu) in a private hospital here on February 9. Brijesh, employed in Dubai, had come visiting his native place on January 29.
After he suffered from unexplained fever, Brijesh had been treated at the primary health centre at Vellarikundu. He was taken to a hospital in Kanhangad later. His condition worsened there, and at the advice of doctors, he was admitted into a private hospital in the city, after which he was diagnosed with swine flu. Brijesh did not respond to treatments and passed away on February 9.
In the meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada district health department officials said that a boy from Kushalnagar, who is recovering in the government hospital here, has been diagnosed with swine flu. The phlegm samples of four more have been sent for testing to Manipal, and results are awaited, they clarified.
Two others who had been admitted into Manipal Hopsital are recovering. One of them happens to belong to Udupi district, while the other is from another district. A student got admitted into this hospital for treatment on Tuesday with symptoms similar to swine flu, and diagnosis is under way.
