Candolim (Goa), Feb 7 (IANS): It was denim, denim and more denim in all forms, colours, washes and styles at designer Raakesh Agarvwal's showcase at the Gionee India Beach Fashion Week 2015 (IBFW)
The designer launched his ready-to-wear and denim line, inspired by the Ozora Music Festival held in Goa and the nostalgia of the 1970s' flavour.
Opening the show with the distressed ripped, random and washed techniques, Agarvwal moved to vintage embellished denim. Presenting denim's three avatars, he brought in 'Colour Strokes', that highlighted seams and hand-painted garments along with an abstract worn-out look.
This was followed by the 'Mother of Hippies Distressed Slashed' treatment where desizing, enzyme and softeners worked wonders for the handcrafted techniques. Finally 'Art Nouveau' was coated indigo denim, bleached and sprayed for a worn and faded effect.
The denim line was shown perfectly on asymmetric shirt style minis with shredded extended tails, deconstructed jackets, bodycon micro dresses with studded pencil skirts, mini belted trench coats; corseted jumpsuits and fringed denim bell-bottoms.
The colours varied from indigo, pristine white denim, sunshine yellow, saffron and tangerine.
Giving a beach and resort look, the designer also showcased a sexy yellow playsuit and a tasselled bikini before his final formal wear collection that consisted his signature chiffon numbers including draped gowns, palazzos, one shoulder blouson, gold sequinned corset, plunge neck jackets, bare back gown with high slits over shorts and halter maxis.
Usage of glitters with gold belts, collars and cuffs gave the collection perfect style.
