Mangaluru, Feb 4: In an incident which happened at the main bus stand at Mulky on Tuesday February 3, three auto rickshaw drivers assaulted the driver of a private express bus and threatened him of taking away his life.

Abdul Shukkur (32), a resident of Suratkal Chokkabettu, who happened to be the driver of the said bus, was at the receiving end of this attack, while the attackers have been identified as Santosh Shetty (32) from Hejamady, Wilfred D'Souza (28), who lives at Kollur near Kavathar, Mulky, and Kishore Shetty (31) from Kavathar. All the three stand arrested by Mulky police relating to this incident.

It is said that a patient, who was in need of urgent treatment, was being taken to a hospital in an auto rickshaw, when a private express bus moving between Mangaluru and Udupi came menacingly close to the three-wheeler. The auto rickshaw driver, in an attempt to avoid getting hit by the bus, veered his vehicle to the left side, after which his vehicle came to a stop after leaning over the roadside mud wall. Angered by this turn of events, the three auto rickshaw drivers came to Mulky bus stand and attacked the driver at fault, besides posing him life threat, it is learnt.

As the incident occurred in the busy bus stand at Mulky, hundreds of onlookers gathered to watch the fight. Mulky police rushed to the spot and restored law and order. The injured bus driver was admitted into a private hospital in Suratkal, while the three accused were produced in Moodbidri court, policemen said.

The solution for all this is not KSRTC. I live in bangalore here inspite of having Govt owned buses the drivers are worst than Mangalore. Its better local administration negotiate with Bus owners to make a private owned corporate sector.

The best solution to address this is to take out the private bus operators and ply KSRTC vehicles.
Human life is more important than anything.

The best solution is to Nationalise the route from Mangalore to Udupi vice-versa to avoid future accidents that may occur. These drivers think that these highway built for to drive their BUS and make accident and to escape. More over the concern District RTO etc., they have to check their driving style or to educate or to give proper training including Auto drivers.

kudos to auto drivers of mulki.

the mangalore bus drivers deserve what was done in this case.

its horrible experience for two wheelers & even 4 wheelers in karavali area because of private bus drivers.

i wish more & more private bus drivers should be beaten up for honking/crossing the midline/crossing red signal/driving very harsh..

DEAR DAIJI READERS, PLEASE OBSERVE KANANTHOOR TRAVELS-EXPRESS BUS FROM MANGALORE TO KONAJE ( already that bus has killed people!!).

it is express,,,, he drives like helicopter. i am sure that the driver of kananthoor travels will be the next person to be handled by thokkottu citizens. so rash he is.

i am just wondering, who is the owner of kananthoor travels & is is reading Daijiworld?

another stretch is beween hampankatta to navabharath circle... in-front of city center mall... accident is waiting to happen.. such a busy area/street.. buses fly with 120 km/hr speed.

No bus or taxi driver is bothered of life in Mangalore. They always violate traffic rules. Transport authority should take some measures to prevent accidents and save life.

Good Comments Given by All the commentators.I fully agree with them.Even I too experienced with these types of hooligan Express Drivers. They Sit on higher Position and when they over speed they come very closer to the the vehicles even living a 1 centimeter space. Moreover they wait in the express stand until the next express arrives and they speed up until the further Stop.Thats the reason the accident Happens.
Express bus must have timings - once the time is over they must leave the spot without waiting for the Next express Bus to come.We find very scary to drive on Udupi Bhatkal-Mangalore Road.Lets Save our Karavali Belt.

I feel I could have done it top them. I always feel like get down from the car and slap at these evil drivers. If you notice, everybody commented that it's right that the driver is beaten up. tow three such incidents will teach them a lesson that owner's joy is no more their life. Their life could be in trouble if they keep trying to keep their owners happy at the cost of innocent people's life. Unless the authorities wake up and take some action against these bus drivers, such incidents are bound to happen. Coming to this specific, I know how this Ayra bus driver drives. So famous that other vehicles run away seeing this bus coming on their way or behind them. He is one of the most reckless driver as I have seen him driving on the way between Mangalore and surathkal. So, no wonder or worry that he is beaten nicely. Now it's for the police to release these auto drivers as whole public is with them. Warn them and release please.

Three comment. All against express bus drivers. No sympathy towards the driver. Yes I too have the same opinion. The rouge bus drivers think the highway is their father’s property. Drive as they wish and kill the innocent on the road. For this type of rash and speedy drive, authority is also responsible. If there is time duration set between the origin and destination point and strictly penalty imposed if any bus reaches the destination before time, no question of rash and speedy drive

Express bus drivers should be taught lessons like this only. They are not bothered about anyone including their own passengers. RTO's are equally responsible as like Drivers.

I drive every day on Mangalore Moodbidri National highway (that's what it's called) and not a day passes without an incident with these express buses. Sometimes I feel they're not driving but are on the runway for a takeoff. The same thing is with the tipper truck drivers.
