Puttur: Police constable killed, five injured in serial accident

Puttur, Feb 3: A police constable lost his life and five others were seriously injured in a ghastly serial accident at Boluvar here on Tuesday February 3.

Puttur town police constable Nemiraj (45) died in the accident.

The accident took place when pickup vehicle carrying plywood went out of control at Boluvar and rammed into the rear end of the bike Nemiraj was riding. After hitting the bike, the vehicle went on to dash against a Desire car, injuring five persons. Sources said that the pickup also hit three other bikes.

Nemiraj died on the spot while the injured were rushed to hospital.

Nemiraj was riding from Darbe towards Mahaveer Medical Centre when the accident took place.

Puttur traffic police have registered a case.

    It is the duty of RTO to ensure proper condition of vehicles, like brakes, signals lights etc., corrupt RTO's never bothered after their pocket is full. All 25 years old commercial vehicles to be banned from entering main road.
