Kasargod, Feb 2: Police have beefed up security in several places here after a group of persons damaged property following stone-pelting at vehicles returning from RSS Vijayshakti rally and convention on the night of Sunday February 1.
In retaliation to the alleged stone-pelting at vehicles carrying RSS workers, a group of persons had gone on rampage, damaging several vehicles, houses and shops from Povval to Bovikan.
Bovikan, Povval and Kumble areas have been peaceful during the day. But shops in these areas have been completely closed in Bovikan and Povval.
Bus service has stopped completely. Youth Congress office at Arikkadi was damaged on Sunday night. A tempo too was damaged after unknown miscreants pelted stones at it.
Cases have been registered against 200 RSS activists in relation to the incidents at Bovikan.
Sufficient police presence is seen in the affected areas.
