Udupi, Feb 1: Karavali Canine Club organized the second national-level open dog show for canine lovers on Sunday, February 1 at MGM ground, Udupi here.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj who inuagurated the show said, "Dogs are more faithful than human beings. Some people even leave behind their properties with dogs to guard them and go to foreign countries.
"It is very important that we take care of them with love and care. Dogs are always good friends to their owners," he added.
A huge crowd of dog lovers gathered at MGM ground. Nearly 250 dogs of diffrerent breeds were registered by their owners who arrived from several states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and others. Pedigree certificate was required for participation.
The dogs performed in three 3 rinks. AS many as 25 breeds like German Shepherd, Doberman, Labrador, Rottweiler, Pug, Boxer, Saint Bernard, Mudhol Hound, Beagle, J R Terrier, Napoleon Mastiff, Sheilds, Pomeranian and others took part in show.
K K Trivedi, Dr Mathew C John and Yogesh Tuteja were the judges.
There were five category such as puppy, junior, intermediate, open class and championship.
In a bid to encourage 'Breed in India' dogs, special prize was offered for the best dog in this category.
The show also witnessed junior handling competition wherein child handlers exhibited their skills.
Preetham, president, M Narvekar, Prasad Aithal Vice-president, Rasad Aithal secretary and others were present.
