Did CM's son's interference in excise affairs, transfers irk Jarkiholi?

Belagavi/Bengaluru, Jan 30 (DHNS): Reported interference by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Rakesh in the affairs of Excise Department and police postings in Belagavi, and the chief minister’s failure to rein in his son are blamed for Excise minister Satish Jarkiholi quitting the Cabinet.

It is said that kin-love had distanced the chief minister from his trusted supporters. Rakesh had been calling the shots in the Excise Department, especially in getting officials transferred, and Jarkiholi had virtually no say in the department. The chief minister had not taken any action despite being told, it is learnt.

It is said that Jarkiholi is also upset with the transfers and postings of police officials in Belagavi. Kempaiah, advisor to Home Minister K J George, used to finalise police transfers. Postings of the IGP, Northern Range, Superintendent of Police, Belagavi district, and Police Commissioner of Belagavi city were done by Kempaiah, sources said.

This and other ommissions upset Jarkiholi and prompted him to sever his long association with Siddaramaiah, say sources. Despite being in Gokak, he skipped the state cabinet meeting. He is learnt to have told one of his close confidants that there was no scope for rapprochement now. Even if he withdraws his resignation, it would just be a token, sources said.

Fearing that the issue may damage the party, leaders from Belagavi led by district Congress president Lakshmi Hebbalkar rushed to Bengaluru on Thursday to consult the chief minister . They again met the chief minister late in the evening. Jarkiholi, the district in-charge minister of Belagavi, is the lone ST member of the Cabinet.

“We have come to Bengaluru to urge the leaders not to accept Jarkiholi’s resignation and find a solution to the problem. He (Jarkiholi) is not particular about any portfolio. He actually wants a less important portfolio so that he can dedicate some time for the development of Belagavi district and party activities,” Hebbalkar told reporters.

Jarkiholi’s unwillingness to meet the chief minister on Thursday is seen as pressure tactics ahead of AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh’s three-day visit to Bengaluru from Friday. The minister is expected to meet Singh.

The chief minister is understood to have informed the Cabinet about Jarkiholi’s resignation. Majority of the ministers are learnt to have urged the chief minister  not to accept the resignation.

Meanwhile, KPCC president G Parameshwara has convened a meeting of all ministers in Bengaluru on Friday to elicit their opinion on strengthening the party. Singh and Siddaramaiah will attend the meeting.

Sorry! This comment is irrelevant to this news but I do not have patience to wait for news related to corruption. In most of the government offices specially in Udupi Dist ( I think it is same all over India) one cannot complete even the pettiest task without ing a 500 rupees note inside the file and the number of notes increases depending on the level of task. The smart people who know this easy procedure getting benefit of this short cut, and the honest and straight forward people keep on visiting the government office every week but in vain.
How can we eradicate this corruption? People prefer to pay Rs 500 and gets the job done, instead visiting the government office 10 times which is more expensive and time consuming.

This Jarkiholi family of Belagavi is more dangerous than Reddy family of Bellary. Whether it is Sugar factory or liquor business or granite business, every thing is in the grip of the Mafia run by this family. Jarkiholis are five brothers who contest from different parties, and whichever party comes to power in Karnataka one of them always get ministership without fail( five bros are- Sathish, Ramesh, Bimshi, Bhalachandra & Lakhan and all are semi-literate). If any farmer after supplying sugarcane to their sugar factory asks for fair price as fixed by govt, then next day that farmer gets beating with his cane itself from Jarkhi's goons.
It is not CM's son who interfered in Sathish Jarkhiholis Excise portfolio but it is his brothers who always interfered in it.

Sathish Jarkhiholi's brothers not only interfere with the ministry of Excise but even they interfere in other ministries of Siddu Govt even though they are not in Cong party. Just because these brothers have influence over the Vote bank of Valmiki (Nayak) community of North Karnataka apart from Ramulu of Ballari, other ministers are tolerating them reluctantly.

Satish habitually resigns for silly reasons. Nothing New. He had resigned from earlier Janata Dal Government because of Siddu himself. Now again same reason. Anyway he will be of no harm to the party. He is one of the Pets of Siddu afterall

if I am not mistaken, Siddu has been excise minister during Patel govt (he was deputy CM too)... it is a cash rich ministry and in karnataka, for time immemorial HENDA DORE (khode, mallya, adikeshavulu) etc have been BIGGEST POLITICAL FUNDERS!! there is a funny rumor that "excise minister needs to keep a currency counting machine at home..each day his income will be close to a crore"! I dont know how true is that... but No CM will ever want to hurt HENDA DOREs! May be a tussle for this, could be evident! As physics says "Yeradu ghana vastugalu, eka kaalakke onde sthanavannu akramisalaravu".. so when CM's son is interested in it, Jarakiholi "SAMAYA" sari hoguvudilla! vhe vhe vhe .....

What is interesting is, even Renukacharya was also excise minister and he was subsequently brain behind "resort politics" and fall of Yeddy!... Jarakiholi has just blown the bugle for Siddu's Downfall!! soon, many will follow! :)
