Kasargod, Jan 25: A one-and-a-half-year old baby died after falling into a bucket of water at Odayanchal here on Sunday January 25.

The deceased child Elona was the daughter of Bejoi and Sonia.

It is said that Elona was playing outside in the yard while her mother Sonia went to take bath. When Sonia came out later she noticed that Elona had fallen head first into the bucket filled with water that had been placed near the edge of the yard.

The family members rushed Elona to hospital but she was pronounced brought dead.

Elona was the only child of Bejoi and Sonia.

I have a daughter of same age and I can realize the pain which the parents must be going through. Yes, it's due to negligence. But mother of a child will never do that intentionally. This is the time to console her and not to blame her for the mistake. But yes, a cute smile has ended for ever.

If nobody was around she should take the child with her in the bath room. It is very dangerous to leave a child alone till they reach the age of 4 years.

How sad incident. RIP Baby Elona

Very Sad Incident. Parents should be highly vigilant on every move of children during Infant stage. Kids don’t understand what is right and what is wrong. Its duty of parents and family members to always keep an eye on their move.

Similar incident happened last year in UDUPI where the child lost life. Parents beware of things which can harm children as they have no knowledge of danger and do not allow such young children to play unattended.
