Illegal mining case: Former Karnataka minister Anand Singh gets bail


Bengaluru, Jan 23 (DHNS): A special CBI court on Friday granted bail to former Karnataka Minister Anand Singh in illegal mining case.

He is expected to be released from the jail Saturday after completing all due procedures.

One of the close associates of mining baron Janardhana Reddy, Anand Singh was arrested in 2013 in connection with alleged illegal export of iron ore from Belikeri Port in Karnataka.

He was arrested in the wake of an explosive report on illegal export from Belekeri port in Uttara Kannada district from former Karnataka Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde.

Hegde in his report, had said 7.74 million tonnes of iron ore were illegally exported between 2006-2007 and 2010-11, causing huge loss to the exchequer.
