Bengaluru, Jan 10 (Agencies): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had a narrow escape as a minor fire was noticed in the chopper which he was flying in.
On his way to Mysuru, Siddaramaiah was accompanied by state home minister, PWD minister and his staff.
Siddaramaiah, Home Minister K J George and PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa and a senior official were asked to disembark from the helicopter owned by a private aviation firm as the fire was noticed at the HAL airport here, the Chief Minister's office said.
The fire was noticed in the silencer of the chopper just before take off. A technical glitch is said to have caused the fire.
A harsh sound emanated from the silencer before the fire caused by the technical glitch was noticed, as the pilots were readying for take-off, the CMO said in a statement here.
The Chief Minister was going to his hometown to take part in several developmental programmes in Mysuru district after attending a Yoga campaign in Bengaluru.
Siddaramaiah later left by road to Mysuru.
