Trinidad keeper Pooran involved in road accident

Trinidad & Tobago, Jan 8 (IANS): Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) wicket-keeper batsman Nicolas Pooran has suffered grave injuries in a road accident and has been operated upon in a hospital.

The 19-year-old was subsequently dropped from the T&T squad for the upcoming Super50 regional tournament reports espncricinfo.com.

T&T Cricket Board operations officer Dudnath Ramkessoon said the injury was grave and he would not be available for the Super50’s which start Jan 15.

"He seriously hurt his ankle and knee of his left leg in the accident and unfortunately would not be able to play in the Super 50 which gets underway on January 15. We wish him a speedy recovery so he can be back to fitness," said Ramkessoon Wednesday.

The accident reportedly occurred Tuesday while Pooran was returning home after training at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain.

He was replaced in the T&T team by wicketkeeper-batsman Stephen Katwaroo.
