Mangaluru,Jan 8: Amit Shah, the national president of BJP will visit the city on January 27, revealed K Pratap Simha Nayak, Dakshina Kannada district president of BJP on Thursday here.
He was speaking during a press meet held at BJP district office.
Amit Shah will also participate in Maha Mastakabhisheka in Karkal during his visit. After this visit, Shah will address a public meeting in city.
"When the BJP national president comes to the city, we will have more power to the membership campaign which is already in progress. We had a target of 1 lac members earlier. But now we have increased the target by four times. We want 4 lacs members now. It is going to be a door to door campaign." said Nayak.
"Active party workers' conventions will be held in all constituencies of the district. The conventions will be held in Sullia and Mangaluru constituencies on January 15, in Mangaluru south, Mangaluru north and Moodbidri on January 18, in Belthangady on January 21 and in Puttur on January 22." Nayak said.
On Kasturirangan report Nayak said that the Satellite survey is of no use. “The report is based on 2001 census which is outdated. We demand that it should be based on 2011 census. Involve all the people concerned and affected. Hold the meetings in grama panchayat level.Educate them on the report. Inform them in advance that you are holding meetings", he said.
Nayak accused the state government of discrimination in drinking water projects. He said that money alloted to different places is based on political considerations.
Reacting on comments of former minister Janardhan Poojary on speaker Kagodu Thimmappa , Nayak said "Poojary is a veteran politician. He should not comment like that. Criticizing the speaker is wrong. The Speaker too has rights. The Speaker does not belong to any political party. He has the intention of correcting the government. Instead of just saying that speaker has limits, Poojary should specify what are the limits. He should tell which are the rules that apply to the speaker. Without telling those things, he cannot just talk like that", he said.
