Udupi, Jan 7: A foreign couple got married on January 7 morning at Neelavar Goshala here in Udupi as per Indian tradition.
International retired football player, Vitaliy Reva and designer Elena Reva got married as per the Indian culture in a simple manner.
Vitaliy was one of the best goal keepers in the world. He has played in 40 matches. He has participated in ten international tournaments. He retired one and half years ago from international football.
Tanmay Goswamy, Medical Director and Kapil Goswamy played the role of bride’s parents in the marriage. R. K. Zingan, an active leader of Congress at Ukraine, presently a resident of Delhi and his wife Vijayalaxmi stood as bridegroom's parents.
The bride had dressed as a typical Indian woman with pink fancy saree. She wore jasmine flowers. The bride groom was wearing tradition white dhoti and peta.
They had already married 10 years ago and the couple also have a seven year old daughter, whose name is Vasilisa, studying in first standard.
Speaking to daijiworld, the daughter of the couple said that she was very happy and excited about her parent's re-marriage.
The marriage was held during Dhanur lagna, Arundati Nakshatra at 6.45 am muhurtam.
Speaking to daijiworld, Vitaliy Reva said, “It is a pleasure to come to India. I read a lot about Indian philosophy and have applied it in my game. It was my dream to get married in Indian Tradition. This day is very special for me.”
Reva was very happy that he got married in presence of cows and spiritual environment.
Elena, who is an interior designer also wanted to get married as per the Indian culture.
Around sixteen members witnessed this traditional marriage.
The marriage was successfully completed followed by Shachi pooja, Kaja homa, aliya upacharam, Mangalya dharana, Agnisakshi (fire witness), saptapadi, with chanting Mantras with Manjunath Bhat leading the ceremony.
