Udupi, Jan 5: A colourful ‘Hore Kanike’ procession held as part of the inaugural of the newly built Mount Rosary Church, Kallianpur, Santhekatte, was flagged off by CMC president P Yuvaraj. The procession was held on Monday January 5.
The Hore Kanike motorcade accompanied by a brass band began in front of Karnataka Bank, Ambagilu, and passed through the national highway before concluding at Mount Rosary Church. A large number of devotees participated in the procession.
It was led by Fr Dennis D’Sa, Ananth S Bhat, and P Abubakkar and saw the participation of school children and various women’s organization members.
The traditional Hore Kanike had many truckloads of offerings of vegetables, rice, and coconuts presented to the Church.
Many cultural and folk arts, gymnastics by youths, tableaux, ‘Chande’, and ‘Huli Vesha’ dance were part of the procession.
