Mangaluru, Jan 4: It is learnt that state health minister, U T Khadar, has written to assembly speaker, Kagodu Thimmappa, clarifying that he had not provided wrong information to the state assembly relating to submission of proposals to finance ministry relating to remuneration payable to medical officers.
It may be recalled that the speaker had fumed at the information that Khadar had misled the house by claiming that proposal to enhance remuneration of medical officers had been pending with finance ministry since over six months. The speaker had said that after consulting with the secretary in finance ministry and coming to know that no such proposal is pending there, he had asked the chief minister to warn the minister not to mislead the assembly henceforth.
It is said that Khadar has claimed in his letter that after February 2013, proposals for increasing remuneration of medical officers on contract basis had been sent to the finance department several times, and that the department had returned these files back to health department. Khadar feels that in view of this, the information given by him was not wrong.
