Kasargod, Jan 2: Relating to the brutal murder of a SDPI activist named Zainul Abid (22), the special police team formed to investigate the murder has succeeded in arresting three more accused. With this, the number of arrests connected with this case has gone up to six, the police said.
The police have information that a total of 19 persons were involved with this murder.The persons now arrested, Krishna (30) from Parekatte Anangoor Road, Sachin (22) from Eriyal, and Vijesh K (24) from Munnippady, were involved with hatching a conspiracy to eliminate Abid, it is gathered.
Abid was stabbed to death on the night of December 22, 2014 at the shop of his father at Chakkar Bazaar here when he was about to close the shop and leave for home.
In this case, Tejas (19) from Beeranthabail, Abhishek (20) from Parakatte, and Akshay Roy (24) had been arrested a few days back.
The policemen said that the key persons who executed the plan are yet to be arrested. The people so far arrested were part of the group which planned the murder, the police said. The police have expressed confidence of arresting all the remaining 13 accused within a couple of days.
