Kundapur, Jan 1: The people of Amasebail, located at the foot of the Western Ghats, had a surprise in store on Wednesday December 31. They got yellow colour rain twice during the day. Not only was the colour of the rain yellow, but the raindrops left yellow dots on surfaces.
Amasebail area was enveloped by clouds since Wednesday morning. The early morning rain was yellow, and yellow dots were seen on earth, cement sheets, roofs, vehicles, etc. When these drops dried up, powdery residue was found.
Yellow rain was experienced in the village and surrounding places. Although no immediate explanation for the phenomenon was given, some feel that it may be due to dust particles, chemicals, fungi etc in the air, which would have got mixed with rainwater. There have been reports of coloured rainfall even in the past although very sparingly.
