Suresh and Sita
It is said that the relationship between Sita's 16-year-old daughter who bore the child and Suresh was illegitimate.
The newborn was tossed into a rivulet at Uppala late night on Friday December 26 allegedly by Sita. Some people who saw the incident intercepted the mother and grandmother of child and alerted the police. The police first arrested Sita on Saturday December 27. The police also came to know about the role of Suresh in the case.
The body of the child was recovered from the rivulet.
The child was born in Kumble hospital four days before it was discarded. The hospital authorities had told the mother and grandmother of the child to register a police complaint the next day as the mother was a minor.
But they hurriedly got discharged from the hospital to come to Uppala by auto. Then they took another auto to come to Patwadi and tossed the baby into the rivulet, it is learnt.
The police have now arrested Suresh and booked him under POCSO Act. Further investigations are on.
