Rio de Janeiro, Dec 28 (IANS): Former Real Madrid striker Robinho is in talks to remain with Brazilian club Santos beyond the January transfer window.
The 30-year-old joined the Brazilian outfit on a year's loan from AC Milan in August, reports Xinhua.
But a clause in the deal allows the Rossoneri to sell him in January, thereby preventing Robinho from leaving the Italian club as a free agent.
"I had a conversation with the president of Santos and it went well," Robinho was quoted as saying by ESPN Brasil.
"Both sides want to continue. We know that the club is in a difficult financial situation. In early January we'll talk again, but everything is on track for me to stay at Santos."
Robinho has scored nine goals from 21 matches in his third spell at the Brazilian club.
Earlier this year, the Brazil international was linked with a move to new US Major Soccer League (MLS) franchise Orlando City.
