Abu Dhabi, Dec 9: Billawara Balaga Abudhabi celebrated their 12th Anniversary on 8th Dec. 2006. at Hilton Hotel Abu Dhabi Programme commenced at 11:00AM with prayer and traditional lighting of lamp ,followed by welcome speech by Manohar Thonse,Billawas Dubai Managing Committe members were welcomed with Bouquets.
The whole event of the day was very well anchored by the talented Shodhan Prasad. Variety of entertainment took over the proceedings provided by the cheerful and talented members and children.
Two outstanding personalities of Billawa community who were felicitated was : Manahor Thonse of Billawara Balaga Abu Dhabi, a well-known organization of Billawas was founded by Tonse along with two other community friends and is the chief coordinator for the last 12 years. He served as Literary Secretary (1996) and as Treasurer ( 2003) of India Social Centre Abu Dhabi. Apart from his Masters Degree in Kannada Literature and Commerce, he has earned two certifications namely CIA and CFSA from USA. He is working as Senior Operations & Financial Auditor for ADCB since 1988.He was also confered with "SUVARNA KANNADIGA" award for the year 2006 as part of the celebration of Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava.
Dayanand Bangera (former UAE Cricket Player - 1993 - 1996, Goa Ranji Trophy player - 1986 -1990) .was first felicitated by Gulf Billawas during the Gulf Billawas trophy. He represented Goa in Ranji from 1986 to 1990. He scored one entury in Ranji Trophy against Kerala. Shri Bangera migrated to the land of opportunity – UAE for career opportunity and played for NMC in Abu Dhabi in 1990. Subsequently he played for UAE between 1993 to 1996.As a member of the UAE Cricket team he played against World XI, Pepsi Asia Cup Qualifying round, Wills Cup in Pakistan and a friendly game against India in Sharjah.Now Shri Bangera has retired from Cricket and is working with Thani Murshid Unilever.
One of the main attraction of the event was Fashion show by couples from Billawas Dubai who were dressed in tradtional dresses depicting different states of India was a treat to the auidience.
The post-lunch session was marked by "Nikul Matha Ullaratha" drama performed by Billawa Ballaga Abudhabi was appreciated by all ,this was undoubtedly the highligth of the events.
