Mangaluru: Wife and son of underworld fugitive Ravi Poojary held

Mangaluru, Dec 23: It is learnt that Sridevi Santosh Poojary and Aryan Santosh Poojary, wife and son of underworld fugitive Ravi Poojary, were arrested by Mumbai police on Monday December 22.

Ravi Poojary, who is wanted the police here in various cases including extortion, murder, murder threat etc, has so far succeeded in remaining elusive.

They were taken into custody by immigration officials as soon as they disembarked from a flight that came into Mumbai from Dubai. They later handed them over to the local police.

In 2012, the then Kadri police station in-charge inspector, Dr H N Venkatesh Prasanna, had put together information about the family members of Ravi Poojary, and asked the higher officials of the department to issue lookout notices for them.

The Mumbai police, after taking into custody both the above passengers, informed the policemen here on Monday. Kadri police will be leaving for Mumbai on Tuesday December 23 to bring the two to the city, it is learnt.

    This was a case of mistaken identity. An innocent family going for a trip to Dubai were detained for having same name as don Ravi Pujaris wife and son.

    Below is from a well repected news portal...

    "His wife and son faced charges of having obtained passports in fictitious names from Mangaluru. The wife had been issued a passport in the name of Shridevi Santosh Poojary while the son held it in the name of Aryan Santosh Poojary."

    You the so called intelligent people should have observed even in this article where Wife of Ravi Poojary called Sridevi Santosh Poojari...something is not addin up????
    So police didn't arrest just because wife and son of a criminal.

    If the family members live separately from the criminal, and the crime doer is independent, then the family MAY not be responsible. Even after the crime is established, then if they shelter him, then the family is responsible.


    Ravi poojary and Dons like him, provide their family with their KILLINGs. Their profession is known to the family and they happily live in that cocoon as though the man is employed in MNC.
    Why are they not responsible. Isn't it the responsibility of every citizen to report crime to the police? Would we escape, if intentionally hide a thief/murderer in our house? What is ABETTING CRIME?

    Shame on the police.
    They would have retained a bit of dignity if the wife and son were summoned for questioning or retained in the airport for questioning. Police have no right to arrest them. On what charges?

    Arresting the family members of any criminal Don , Terrorist , Naxals is against the law ( if they not involved any criminal activitis) its shows the weakness of Police Dept. Here Govt.first need to check is these wife and son of Don are involved in any crime or not..

    Interogation is fine but this act of arresting family members of those involved in crime has been a cowardly act and disrespectful act of the Police in India and all over the world. Just imagine when the criminals do not harm family members of police, police should not harm family members of criminals. The family members are in their own place by act of destiny..

    The family members have the resposibility of converting their member from crime to civilized law abiding citizen.

    They can not enjoy fruits of his 'acts' and give him family life. He is having best of both worlds, and so do they, while some innoscent family is suffering for their GREED.

    Let them denounce him, his wealth and supplies, then the family can be redeemed. Till such time that they use his funds to FLY, they are equally responsible.

    You should be knowing little more than this, because you are talking of 'THEIR' human rights, what about 'OUR' human rights, who have to live in terror because of Ravi Poojary.

    Dear Shankar, Mehdi and Yasin BHatkal already arrested. So no need to arrest their family members. Don't communalize everything. But Ravi Poojary absconding and hiding since long time. Arrest of his family members will help police to trace him. Terrorists and gangsters have no religion.

    You will only understand the pain when you are involved in any case because of own fault and your respectful family members are unnecessarily harassed for no fault of theirs all because of poor investigation methods and lack of training. Going by what you say, tomorrow all family members should have same Pan Card and be liable for liabilities of all family members
