Mel B's husband breaks silence over assault rumours

Los Angeles, Dec 18 (IANS): Singer Mel B's husband Stephen Belafonte has broken his silence over allegations he beat his wife and former Spice Girl Mel B saying no one has accused him of anything.

The assault rumours hit the headlines when Mel B was admitted to a hospital with a mystery illness and then appeared on the talent show “The X Factor” over the weekend without her wedding ring and sporting what appeared to be scratches and bruises on her skin.

Belafonte said he's not perturbed by the media firestorm, saying it's "not the first time" he's been branded a violent thug.

"You can only re-mix ten things, ten ways, so many times," he told MailOnline in an interview.

When asked to discuss the damaging accusations that he had struck his wife of seven years, he said: "Who accused me of it, did she accuse me of it, the police, the hospital, who accused me of it?

“No one has accused me of anything."

Asked if he had ever hit his wife, he said: “You'll see all the legal letters going out tomorrow. Everybody's been contacted by Mel's representative, all the papers, that said: 'I did not hit her, this isn't going on, that's not going on.'"
