Mysuru, Dec 18: A young lady, who allegedly suffered harassment at the hands of her husband and in-laws, killed her husband and committed suicide.
Satyanarayana (26), living in CFTRI Layout at Bogadi here, and his wife, Manaswi (23), died in this incident. In three separate death notes left behind by her, Manaswi explained the trying times and tribulations she had been going through since her love marriage.
Manaswi, daughter of Devaraje Gowda from P Basavanahalli in Periyapatna taluk had studied in the government engineering college in Kushalnagar near her home. When studying there, she fell in love with Satyanarayana, studying in the government polytechnic located in the same compound. Satyanarayana was the son of Lingaraju, who was the registrar of the said polytechnic. Against the wishes of their respective parents, the two tied nuptial knots about 18 months back, and started living in CRTRI Layout here.
Although the going seemed rosy in the beginning, quarrels began occurring because of financial problems as both were unemployed. Moreover, the two lacked family support, both moral and financial. Recently, they had fought with one another and went to police station. The police had sent them back by advising them to lead life together by overlooking minor problems.
Unable to take the mounting pressure any longer, Manaswi killed her husband with an axe on the night of Tuesday while he was sleeping. She then hanged herself at the house rented by the couple in the city.
According to the two separate death notes found in the house, it was a premeditated murder. Their relationship had soured several months ago. Aggrieved, Manu had made up her mind three months ago to get rid of Sathya.
In one of her letters addressed to the landlord's wife, she narrated her woes. She has candidly stated that Sathya, by making plans to leave her, was going to ruin her life.
