Mysuru: Love marriage gone sour, harassed wife kills husband, ends life

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Dec 18: A young lady, who allegedly suffered harassment at the hands of her husband and in-laws, killed her husband and committed suicide.

Satyanarayana (26), living in CFTRI Layout at Bogadi here, and his wife, Manaswi (23), died in this incident. In three separate death notes left behind by her, Manaswi explained the trying times and tribulations she had been going through since her love marriage.

Manaswi, daughter of Devaraje Gowda from P Basavanahalli in Periyapatna taluk had studied in the government engineering college in Kushalnagar near her home. When studying there, she fell in love with Satyanarayana, studying in the government polytechnic located in the same compound. Satyanarayana was the son of Lingaraju, who was the registrar of the said polytechnic. Against the wishes of their respective parents, the two tied nuptial knots about 18 months back, and started living in CRTRI Layout here.

Although the going seemed rosy in the beginning, quarrels began occurring because of financial problems as both were unemployed. Moreover, the two lacked family support, both moral and financial. Recently, they had fought with one another and went to police station. The police had sent them back by advising them to lead life together by overlooking minor problems.

Unable to take the mounting pressure any longer, Manaswi killed her husband with an axe on the night of Tuesday while he was sleeping. She then hanged herself at the house rented by the couple in the city.

According to the two separate death notes found in the house, it was a premeditated murder. Their relationship had soured several months ago. Aggrieved, Manu had made up her mind three months ago to get rid of Sathya.

In one of her letters addressed to the landlord's wife, she narrated her woes. She has candidly stated that Sathya, by making plans to leave her, was going to ruin her life.

The Indian parents many a time give in for the wish of their child and make arrangements for the wedding…. Also called love-cum-arranged marriage. I think this term is only used in India. And then later they will start harassing their children each time they find something different in their daughter/son in laws. They will comment that ” see that’s why we asked u to get married with in the caste.”

Love marriages face a lot of judgment and scorn, heaping guilt and tough times upon the couple.

Deep sympathies to the bereaved family members. May both departed souls R.I.P. Amen

It is sad that many people in India prefer suicide/murder to divorce and separation. This is primarily because of the social stigma and other hardships they are unable to face as a result of separation or divorce. It is also because of a sense of feeling betrayed by your spouse.
I still feel if two persons cannot/do not want to live with each other or if one of them cannot/does not wish to live with the other then please go in for a separation or divorce/annulment.
FOR GOD'S SAKE PLEASE STOP THIS SUICIDE AND KILLING !

Sad situation. What is the point in having high degrees if you don't have patience, understanding and mental toughness to face the situation. Today's generation will fall in love and think that will remain for ever without any problems, but they don't realize that when there are problems lot of adjustments and tolerance and forgiveness is required and hence end up with this type of tragedy. God's plans are like this and no man can change it.

Family members should at least lend moral support once they get married.Marrying outside the wishes of parents is not a crime. Here for these deaths we as a society to be blamed as parents we always think always things should happen as per our wishes. Two young lives lost. MAY THEIR SOULS REST IN PEACE. Do not disown your children if they do not abide by your wishes.

Falling in love is natural, going against all odds and getting married to the one you love is commendable.

But, how will you survive on only love ? You can't eat it, wear it, cannot convert it into a roof over your head ?

Your parents educated you but you flushed all their efforts down the drain. You did not wait to marry, even until you found a job. Once abandoned by parents form both sides, its you who must earn your own bread.

Bad example to the younger generation. Good riddance rather !

    RIP

    Dear Rudolf:
Look at pertinent questions raised by Kadri Mai...?
How survive on 'Love' onlY? Answer man, Answer...
1.To tell 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'...you require energy! Is it not? To do something also "Kuch Kuch' you need energy. For energy you need food.
Where will food come from? Thin air aa? Got her point?? Not mine.
No use running round trees singing 'duets' is what Mai says!
How much you have 'in pocket' is what ultimately matters. It boils down to the 'pocket' ultimately.
How can you romance 'Kuchi Kuchi' in Switzerland and other places without money? Young people see DDLJ and all that and fantasize!
SRK and Kaajol run with all the money ! For other young romancers only seeing film! Later 'baabaji Ka T##lu! Kadri Mai has a point!
    2. Good riddance...aa? That is a bit harsh. However it is a 'harsh reality' also that you must know
    beforehand some basic requisites
    before plunging into a relationship.
Kadri Mai is very very mature I tell you.
Youngsters will know in due course.

Yes . read article carefully. There was 'mounting pressure' and pressure while mounting. These mounts and pressures some girls cannot take. You think she will kill just like that aa?
Put yourselves into the ...into the....o.k. shoes of the girl and see...What did you think? You will see more clearly.

In a lighter vein- in these days of mounting pressures from all sides, one should not forget to use a 'fail proof' pressure relief valve!!!
