Mangaluru, Dec 17: Through a complaint that was filed with a delay of several days at Panambur police station here, the complainant has claimed that a youth ended his life, after the love affair he had with a young woman was abruptly broken by the lady at the last minute. The incident had occurred at Kudumbur Colony in Bykampady here.
It is gathered that Anand D'Souza (28), the victim, became acquainted with a girl from Jalligudde here over cellphone. The initial acquaintance soon turned into mutual love, which grew from strength to strength over a period of three years.
Anand, who had bagged a well-paying job in a foreign country, it is claimed, met the demands of the girl's family, which was not well-to-do. Over these three years, he provided a scooter, motor bike, and auto rickshaw to the family of the girl out of his own funds, his family members said. It is also alleged that during this period, the youth remitted nearly Rs 20 lac to the family of the girl, although he failed to financially support his own family during this period.
The girl, for reasons unknown, distanced herself from the youth, and told Anand that she had decided to ditch him. Anand, who was shocked at this sudden turnaround, told his family members about the sacrifices he had made so far for his lover's family, sought their apologies, and ended his life by hanging himself at his home on November 22, his close ones stated.
The family of Anand has now filed a case of fraud against the girl and her parents.
