Mangaluru, Dec 15: Consecration and installation of Rev Mohan Manoraj as bishop of Church of South India (CSI), Karnataka Southern Diocese was organized on Monday December 15 at CSI Shanthi Cathedral Balmatta here.
Consecration and installation was done by the Rev Dr G Dyvasirvadam, moderator, Church of South India.
Rev Mohan Manoraj was born on the November 16, 1954. He is qualified as BAMA from the Sociology Mysore University, is a Bachelor of Divinity from KTC (SSC), has completed his Masters in Theology from Social Analysis T T S (SSC), and received the Teacher's Certificate from the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, Bengaluru.
The Reverend was ordained Deacon on the July 27, 1986 and ordained Presbyter on of June 25, 1989.
As diocesan, he served in Kodagu, Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts for 28 years. He was vice-president of Karnataka Southern Diocese from 2005-2007 and was convenor of the Socio-Economic Concern Committee, KSD.
Rev Mohan Manoraj was lecturer at the Karnataka Theological College, Mangaluru from 1995-1996.
The Reverend's other achievements have been motivating unorganized agricultural labourers to start a Movement demanding high wages at Chittur, Andhra Pradesh and also representing Karnataka in 'Anti-Nuclear Protest Bicycle Jatha' from Gujarat to Kerala.
Rev Mohan Manoraj has an enormous experience in both Pastoral and academic fields. He has rendered most of his service in the field of socio-economic concerns and has also gained sufficient leadership experience during his service in different churches and community development projects.
The Reverend is married to Dr Prema Sarojini (Lecturer, P U College, H D Kote, Mysore). They have two children Shalom Sannutha who is married to Mohan Kumar and Sundaresh Devapriyam who is married to Shruthi Ranjani.
Some of the Reverend's visions are providing hostel facilities for working women and youth of rural areas, opening Old-age homes and Marriage Counseling Centers at area levels, introducing Medical Insurance and Burial fund schemes at Rural areas, availing financial support from Government AF & P Board and overseas to construct Community Halls at area levels, Improving the diocesan schools, colleges and hospitals by taking valuable suggestions and guidance from experienced educationalists and administrators.
Rev Ravi Kumar Niranjan, Bishop KND, Moderator's Commissary KSD, Rev Deva Kumar K P , Vice President KSD, V Isaac Vijayasekar Secretary KSD and Udayaraj Kaunds, Treasurer KSP were present at the Consecration and Installation.
