Mangaluru, Oct 13: In a bid to create awareness on road safety, Nissan Safety Driving Forum (NSDF) organized a road safety programme at Forum Mall here on Sunday December 13.
The programme also emphasized on safety features like seat belt and airbags through specially designed simulators and panel displays.
Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor, Vinod Patel, Nissan divisional head, Dinesh, business head and G S Hegde, assistant regional transport officer inaugurated the rollover simulator, separate airbag simulator and panel displays.
A rollover simulator, comprising of an actual Nissan Micra, recreated a safe rollover situation to demonstrate the importance of wearing seat belts while in a car. A separate airbag simulator comprising of a driver seat-steering wheel setup displayed how an airbag inflates in the event of frontal impact by simulating crash conditions. In addition to these, visitors could also try their hands at a safety driving simulator that imparts safe driving techniques to users.
Nissan Safety Driving Forum aims to reach 1,00,000 people in the third phase. Nissan has invested approximately INR 130 million so far raising safety awareness on Indian roads, stated a press release
NSDF is a part of Nissan's 'Blue Citizenships' global social responsibility platform, under which the company addresses various issues that affect road users, including fatalities on the road. NSDF which is one of the cogs in this wheel, is an innovative way to help people realize the importance of safety while driving the car or even as a pedestrian.
Visitors to the Forum Mall will have the opportunity to visit the NSDF zone on December 13 and Sunday December 14, where they can learn the importance of safety features like seat belts and airbags through specially designed simulators and panel displays.
