Rio de Janeiro, Dec 11 (IANS): Two-time Brazilian champions Botafogo have sacked football coach Vagner Mancini after the club was relegated to the country's Serie B.
The Rio de Janeiro-based outfit also announced Wednesday the departure of assistant coaches Regis Angeli and Mauricinho, reports Xinhua.
"The club thanks them for their effort and commitment and wishes them luck in their future endeavours," Botafogo said on their official website.
Mancini, who was appointed in April, led Botafogo to 10 wins, seven draws and 25 defeats.
He denied leaving the club on a sour note, saying the decision was amicable.
"I said that I would like to stay but for that to happen they would have to fulfill some conditions, especially in regards to the payment of salaries and the structure," the 48-year-old added.
