Mangaluru, Dec 9: A police complaint has been lodged at Mangaluru south police station against a teacher and principal for beating up a 5-year-old boy in school.
The father of the child, Rahmath, and mother Minaz from Kuthar have complained to the police alleging that their son was subjected to corporal punishment.
As per reports, the boy is studying at Kidzee nursery school at Attavar here. He had gone to his grandmother's house in Kankanady. On Monday December 9, Minaz received a phone call saying he had rashes on his leg.
Minaz who went to see the boy realized that those were not rashes but marks of some injury. The boy who kept insisting that he would not go to school the next day, also had fever. After much coaxing, the boy revealed that he was beaten up at the school by the teacher.
As per boy's statement, the teacher and also coordinator of the school, named Latha, hit him with a scale for not knowing the name of a vegetable. The teacher even asked other students to tease the boy for not knowing the right answer to her question, it is alleged.
When the parents approached the school on the above issue, the principal of the school Sukesh Uchil denied the charges. Interestingly the principal is the husband of the teacher who was alleged to have beaten up the boy.
The parents of the boy speaking to daijiworld said that they had to approach the police about the incident as their problem was not addressed by the school management. They said even if the teacher did not admit that the boy was humiliated and physically abused, the CCTV cameras at the school would reveal the truth. They even claimed that other students of the same class have admitted that the boy was subjected to punishment.
The principal of the school has said that 8 CCTV cameras have been installed in the school premises and the police could check them to know the truth.
