Mangaluru, Dec 9: A fish tempo was allegedly set on fire at Padavinangady here late night on Monday December 8.
The tempo (KA 19 B 4614), which is used to transport fish, was parked at Padavinangady junction. The identity of the tempo owner is not yet known.
It is said that unidentified miscreants set fire to the tempo and fled the spot.
The Kavoor and Kankanady police on receiving information about the fire rushed to the spot.
Till the fire engine arrived from Kadri, the police personnel did their best to douse the fire with water bottles, leaves etc.
The fire personnel managed to douse the flames, however, the tempo was almost completely charred.
Another auto rickshaw which was closeby was shifted to safety.
DCP K V Jagadish also arrived on the spot.
Kankanady police have registered a case.
Stabbing incidents
The city and outskirts reported at least three incidents of stabbing late evening on December 8.
In Goodshedde, a person by name Yogish was stabbed allegedly by two persons who came in a bike. Sources said that in the pretext of buying cigarettes from his shop, they stabbed him when on the back when he turned to fetch the cigarettes. They fled the spot immediately, while Yogish was hospitalized.
In another incident, a person identified as Vinay was walking on the road, when miscreants came in bikes and stabbed him before fleeing the spot.
A stabbing incident was also reported in Maripalla, where a person identified as Jayant was seriously injured.
