Mangaluru, Dec 6: The Moodbidri police have registered case against a Muslim youth who reportedly changed his attire and opened Facebook account in fake name with the objective of winning over the heart of a girl. He was also arrested. At the same time, case was registered against five activists of a right wing organizations on the allegation of beating up the said youth. These activists were also arrested.
It is said that the person, Imthiyaz from Kotebagilu, had sported red thread around his wrist, draped saffron shawl around his neck, and opened Facebook account in a fake name. All this was allegedly done to convince a lady working for a private entity that he was a Hindu. The lady fell to this trap, and reciprocated his love, it is learnt. However, once the identity of the youth came out, some angry youth, Sachin, Sunil, Prasad, Vinayak, and Navin reportedly assaulted the accused in the Swaraj Maidan here. A person named Imthiyaz filed a complaint about this incident, on the basis of which a case was registered.
At the same time, Naveen filed a complaint in the police station saying that Imthiyaz had introduced himself to be a Hindu, and opened a fake Facebook account in the name of Mahesh. He said that Imathiyaz had deceived the girl into believing that he was a Hindu named Mahesh.
All the arrested were produced in the local court on Friday. They were granted bail by the court.
In the meantime, it is said that the alleged Facebook account stated above remains active even after the above case was filed. At around 12 on Thursday, the photo of the youth was replaced with that of a baby. However, on Friday afternoon, the photo of the youth re-appeared in both profile and cover pages.
