Mangaluru, Dec 5: Popular Front of India (PFI), Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, on Friday December 5, demanded the reconstruction of Babri Masjid and the arrest of those who were involved in its demolition.
Athavulla, district president of PFI, addressing the media at Hotel Woodlands, said, “After Gandhi's assassination, demolition of Babri Masjid is the second biggest issue. On December 6, 1992, fascist forces uprooted the secular system of our country with the demolition of the Masjid. It is a black mark on the freedom of religion."
“Babri Masjid demolition was no accident. With the help of the administrative system and law enforcement authorities, it was a successful destruction. Now, 22 years have been completed and yet no central government has come forward to re-construct the Babri Masjid so far. After a 17-year-long investigation, the Liberhan Commission had named L K Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar and other members of the Sangh Parivar as the accused. Even the Cobra Post sting operation says that these mentioned persons are involved in the demolition of the Masjid,” he said
“Destruction of Babri Masjid is a historical injustice. Muslims who raise their voice for the construction of the Masjid are called communal or fundamentalists,” says Athavulla.
"People say that that we have to forget the issue and move on. At present, the Hindu outfits do not want Ram Mandir, instead they want to hurt the people’s religious sentiments and play politics. Those named in the Liberhan Commission should be arrested and must face severe punishment," he added.
"The PFI of DK district is going to hold a campaign in front of the DC office with the slogan 'Lest We Forget - Babri Masjid', remembering it as a dark day, on Saturday December 6 at 4 pm,” added Athavulla.
All India Imam Council district president Jaffer Sadiq Faizi and Bajpe unit PFI president Abdul Majeed and others were also present on this occasion.
