Nov 21: It is the last village on the Goa-Karnataka boundary on the north-east. Situated amidst the spectacular Sahyadri mountain ranges, the village is called as Surla or Sural.
It is derived from the words 'Shree' 'Valli' meaning place of Lord Vishnu. It is a very sparsely populated village with a total population of 560.
Surla is having a lot of untouched tourist spots such as the huge and spectacular waterfall..Ladkecho Vazar and Sada..the plain and the beautiful plateau.
This beautiful village has till date given many talented persons to the Goa state including some young poets and businessmen. The atmosphere in this village is somehow totally different from what it is normally in the entire state, whatever be the season.
It's just cool and perfect and with the nature's blessed scenery, it is adding more and more to the entire scene. The chief minister of Goa Pratap Singh Rane has declared it as the best and the only hill station of the state.
But in spite of all these statements and comments the Goa Tourism Development Corporation is still not serious about paying attention to this village and its pristine beauty. The Department should now pull up its socks and act towards the preservation of this pristine and virgin village beauty.
