Mangaluru, Dec 4: "The theft of the cow at Children’s Ashrayadhama is condemnable. The government should intervene and arrest the thieves," said Dr P Anantakrishna Bhat, convener of Bala Samrakshana Kendra run by Kuthar Mangala Seva Samiti trust, here on Wednesday, December 3.
He was speaking after a silent protest held by the children, staff and trustees of the centre after a cow tied at the centre was stolen three days ago.
"The centre has been taking care of children for the last thirty years. These children had reared the cow for milk. It is a crime to steal such a cow. The government should take extra interest to arrest the culprits," he said.
A complaint has been lodged with district administration, minister and MP.
Mangala Seva trust president Sridhar Bhat, trustees Manohar Tulajaram, Keremane Narasimha Hegde and others were present.
Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal will hold a protest and rally at Kuthar junction at 5 pm on December 4, urging to close the slaughter house at Chembugudde in view of the theft of the cow.
